Open Facebook through the Android app or mobile site (www.facebook.com) and select continue when prompted to use FB without data charges.
A button located at the top right of the screen will allow you to control data charges when using Facebook. The only downside is that you cannot view a pictures posted on your friend timelines, but you can chat through facebook messenger.
